For a vacation that’s cool in every sense of the word, consider one of these honeymoon destinations where the weather doesn’t have to be warm for the sparks to fly.

Prague, Czech Republic

Share a kiss in Prague on the medieval Charles Bridge, where “the city of 100 golden spires” is laid out before you. Legend says that if you touch the bridge’s Baroque statue of St. John, you’ll have good luck and you’ll always return to Prague. Plan your visit for sunset and continue on the Royal Route to Prague Castle. If you’re lucky you may pass the cloaked figure of the city’s lamplighter turning on the gaslights that give Prague a romantic glow. Stroll the city’s Christmas markets with a cup of svařené víno (hot mulled wine) in one hand and a trdelník sweet pastry in the other as you shop for hand-painted glass ornaments.

Zurich, Switzerland

With the snowy peaks of the Alps in the distance, Zurich takes the expression winter wonderland to new heights. Explore the city’s cultural side at the Kunsthaus Zürich art museum, whose collection ranges from the Old Masters to postmodern work. Walk hand in hand up Bahnhofstrasse, under the 20,000-plus twinkling Christmas lights and ornaments. Make your way toward the train station where a tree decorated with thousands of Swarovski crystals lights stands at the center of a Christmas market. Board a vintage electric-powered tram and find yourselves in a mobile dining room, outfitted with intimate tables topped with fondue pots. Watch the city go by as you’re served glühwein and melted gruyère.

Aspen, Colorado

Get cozy in front of a crackling fire with a glass of wine or bundle up under a blanket on a horse-drawn sleigh ride across the snowy fields with the Rockies as your backdrop. Earn your après-ski and evening in the hot tub with a day on Aspen’s world-class slopes. If skiing’s not your speed, see the backcountry on snowshoes so it’s just the two of you in the snow.

Reykjavik, Iceland

What could be more romantic than a kiss under the northern lights? When it comes to winter honeymoon destinations, Iceland offers such sweet delights as concerts in the post-modern all-glass Harpa Concert Hall in Reykjavik, built out over a jetty so it’s surrounded by water. Indulge in the thermal waters of the Blue Lagoon, a 40-minute drive from Reykjavik. Dip into the sapphire waters (hovering between 98 and 102 degrees) and order a glass of champagne that you can sip as you sink into deep relaxation. Drive two hours east from Reykjavik to get a look at the nearly 200-foot Skógafoss waterfall, or take the Golden Circle driving route to snowmobile across the Langjökull glacier.
