Top 6 Hotels for a Destination Wedding

Wedding planning season may stress a lot of couples out, but there are many more out there who can provide some help.

According to the first Marriott Road to Romance Trends Report, which analyzed more than 5 million publicly tagged social media posts on Twitter and Instagram, six hotels in California, Hawaii, Indonesia, Las Vegas and Thailand were the most discussed when it came to weddings.

The top destination wedding hotels in the United States were the Moana Surfrider, a Westin Resort & Spa, Waikiki Beach, in Hawaii; The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Autograph Collection; or The Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel, in California.

An estimated 340,000 destination weddings are held each year, or 20% of all weddings.

Overseas, the JW Marriott Hotel Jakarta and The Ritz-Carlton Jakarta, Mega Kuningan, both in Indonesia; and The Athenee Hotel, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Bangkok, in Thailand, were the most buzzed about on Twitter and Instagram.

The study, conducted by M Live, Marriott International’s social media command center, gathered insights about the most discussed weddings, honeymoons and bachelor/bachelorette parties on the social media channels at more than 6,000 Marriott properties worldwide.

If you’re looking to have a destination wedding, you’re among the estimated 340,000 that take place each year—or 20%, according to The Knot and TripSavvy that track wedding trends. Of those destination weddings, 89% take place in the continental U.S., while 11% are in international locales.
