Snow-Go: Check Out Fun Park City Activities for Non-Skiers

Even if you’re not a fan of schussing down slopes, there’s no need to resist a ski vacation with friends or family when the destination is Park City. The city offers non-skiers far more to do than just sipping hot cocoa at the ski lodge, grinding away in the fitness room or slipping off to the spa.

Spend your days at your choice of indoor or outdoor activities — some don’t involve snow at all — before joining your group for après-ski activities.

Float Away

Retreat to a 95-degree geothermal spring and try paddleboard yoga in the crater-enclosed waters of Homestead Crater. Park City Yoga Adventures serves up one-hour classes inside the ancient stone dome, which you can also combine with a sunrise or starlight snowshoe hike.

Feel weightless as you float in 900 pounds of magnesium salt in a sensory deprivation relaxation tank at Sync Float Center. Experience the ultimate in mental relaxation and healing as the anti-inflammatory salt relieves joint pressure and increases blood flow to injured areas.

Blast away pain and rejuvenate your skin with a cryotherapy session. The three-minute total-body treatment surrounds your skin with dry, cold air, increasing oxygen in the bloodstream as well as hormones that promote well-being. Catch a sesh at Cryo Lodge or Stone Cold Cryotherapy.

Build Your Brain

Sure, Park City is home to some mind-bending interactive museums, but that’s not the only place to sate your thirst for knowledge. Walk in the footsteps of some of the town’s earliest residents on the Park City Ghost Tour. Even if you don’t believe in hauntings, you’ll learn a lot about the city’s rough-and-tumble mining days where many men — and a few women — met a violent end before reaching middle age.

Old Town Cellars strives to “keep wine affordable, welcoming and fun,” and that’s precisely what you’ll get when you enroll in a sip and paint class co-sponsored by the Kimball Art Center. The class fee includes all art supplies, but bring your cash or plastic to pay for wine, spirits and noshes.

Take a Snow Day

Spend days enjoying the snow without ever strapping on a ski or snowboard. Explore city trails and parks on rented snowshoes or a fat-tire snow bike. Get your blood pumping on the 1.5-mile Iron Mountain Trail as it makes a steep ascent through pines and aspen groves. Or take a leisurely stroll or ride around the back of PC Hill for stunning 360-degree views.

Make memories with the kids when you fly down hills on a snow tube and ride the lift back up at Gorgoza Park. Seven tubing lanes include a hill for little tubers, as well as beginning and advanced lanes. Tots will love the snow tube carousel at the park’s Fort Frosty, and children ages 6 through 12 can discover the joys of mini-snowmobiling on a groomed track at Gorgoza Park.
