The World’s 10 Most Popular Spots to Get Engaged

Thinking of getting engaged but don’t know where to pop the question? You’re in luck.

You might want to take a trip. A beach or desert resort may be a great choice to create a memorable moment. Your significant other may also like something a little more lively like the Las Vegas Strip.

That’s what Marriott International’s M Live social media command center found when it examined more than 5 million publicly tagged social media posts on Twitter and Instagram, from January to August 2017, for its first Marriott Road to Romance Trends Report.

The study gathered insights about weddings, honeymoons and bachelor/bachelorette parties at more than 6,000 Marriott properties worldwide.

M Live wanted to conduct the report, considering that social media is one of the must used resources by couples when organizing their upcoming nuptials.

The top five hotels in the United States where people posted the most about their engagements on social media were the Moana Surfrider, a Westin Resort & Spa on Waikiki Beach, in Honolulu; the Sheraton Waikiki, also in Honolulu; The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, an Autograph Collection hotel; The Phoenician, a Luxury Collection Resort, in Scottsdale, Arizona; and The Royal Hawaiian, a Luxury Collection Resort, in Waikiki.

The Moana Surfrider also ranked as the No. 1 hotel for weddings and honeymoons.

Other popular cities in the U.S. included San Diego, Laguna Niguel, Simi Valley, Los Angeles and New York City.

Overseas, the Ritz-Carlton Almaty, in Kazakhstan; the Grosvenor House Hotel, in London; the Minsk Marriott Hotel, in Belarus; the Ritz-Carlton Jakarta, in Indonesia; and the Westin Jakarta generated the most posts related to engagements.

Other popular destinations included Santo Domingo, in the Dominican Republic; Yogykarta and Surabaya, in Indonesia; Hong Kong, Seoul and Mumbai.
