Pregnancy can be an exciting time with so much to look forward to, so much to prepare for, and so much unknown. But before your new addition comes to the family, celebrating with a babymoon is a wonderful idea.

Whether you’re getting ready for your first baby or you already have little ones, a babymoon gives you the chance to recharge, think about the future, and feel emotionally grounded before the big event. With so many babymoon travel styles to consider, the right trip looks different for everyone, be they couples or solo parents. So we’ve curated a list of trips and tips to make it easy for you to actually go on your babymoon and not worry about the logistics.

There is no right or wrong way to take a babymoon, and there shouldn’t be any pressure to do it all. When deciding the ideal destination for your babymoon, consider your travel style and what you want to get out of the experience. Do you want a restorative beach holiday, a cultural deep dive, or one last foodie escape before you take a break from fancy restaurants?

Another thing to consider is your energy level. Are you up for flying across an ocean chasing culture, or would you rather keep it low-key and stay close to home? You could also take two shorter trips instead of one longer one, which might be easier to plan between check-ups at the doctor. Generally speaking, the first trimester tends to be the roughest, so you may wish to plan your babymoon in the second trimester, once the morning sickness has subsided and you have more energy for a trip.

From restful to indulgent, these babymoon ideas are sure to provide inspiration for a trip that feels right for you. As always, check for travel guidelines and closures before planning your trip.

The Relaxing Babymoon: Antigua

If your idea of a babymoon is some much-needed R&R before the baby comes, you probably don’t want to deal with multiple flight connections. The good news is you don’t need to head to the Maldives to wake up to turquoise waters outside your overwater bungalow.

In Antigua, Caribbean views, a plunge pool, and your own private deck await at Royalton CHIC Antigua, an Autograph Collection All-Inclusive Resort – Adults Only. And since it’s all-inclusive, there’s very little need to leave the hotel or do any planning at all once you’ve checked in. Expect slow mornings, laid-back nights, and lots of naps in between. To take your relaxation to the next level, book a massage at The Royal Spa.

The Romantic Babymoon: Paris, France

Since date nights may be in short supply for a couple of months after your new arrival, this a wonderful time to sweep your partner off their feet all over again while it’s just the two of you. Few places are as swoon-inducing as the French capital. Cute cafés, long meals, and strolling the streets aimlessly are the recipe for spending quality time à deux. Skip the obvious sights and find space for reflecting on your future life together and creating special memories.

The art deco Prince de Galles, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Paris, located just steps from the Champs-Elysées, will take you back to 1930s Paris. With stylish suites, a courtyard restaurant where you can start your days with fresh croissants, and a spa to help you fight jet lag, it’s the perfect place to reconnect as a couple.

Travelers energized by art and culture can plan a babymoon in a city known for its history and strong sense of place: Rome. What’s important to avoid, however, is overloading the schedule Even if you’re accustomed to museum-hopping all day long, you may want to stick to a more languid pace here. If you find your energy levels flagging, you can always ditch the plans and post up at a café on the Piazza Navona.

The Rome Marriott Grand Hotel Flora is in close proximity to museums and historic sites, allowing access to short outings with plenty of opportunities to sit and rest. Its neoclassical style and location next to centuries-old Roman walls will recharge your batteries with a strong dose of history to sustain your travel cravings in the months ahead.

With one of the highest concentrations of MICHELIN stars per capita in the world, San Sebastián is truly one of the best places to eat on the planet. Located between the forest and the beach, The Westin Reserva Conchal, an All-Inclusive Golf Resort & Spa makes it easy to settle into a slower pace. Spend your days alternating between the pool and the sand, keeping an eye out for local wildlife or enjoying a leisurely meal with an ocean view.
