In Dubai, you can gaze at the city’s sparkly skyline and the brilliant waters of the Arabian Gulf atop the world’s tallest skyscraper, get delightfully lost in the frankincense-scented alleys of an old souk, and watch an orange-red sun sink into golden desert dunes, all in a single day. But a visit to the city isn’t just about what you can do, it’s just as much about what you can (and should) eat at the best restaurants in Dubai.

Dubai’s dining scene is vibrant, cosmopolitan and diverse. With restaurants helmed by Michelin-starred chefs, young talent shaking up the local culinary scene and long-standing restaurants serving up authentic tastes of the region, dining out is one of the most exciting things to do in Dubai.

From quirky rooftop bars and lively brunches to chic Pan-Asian restaurants, these are the best dining experiences across the city.

Most Instagrammable Dining at Sobe

Eclectic, edgy and seriously Instagrammable, Sobe rooftop bar, inspired by Miami’s South Beach, at the W Dubai on Palm Jumeirah is a fantastic spot for panoramic views of the Arabian Gulf and Dubai skyline.

When the weather is nice, head to the palm-tree-lined terrace for a dazzling sunset, and Sunday through Thursday sip on happy hour drink specials from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The evening continues in the art-deco-meets-industrial interior, where street art adorns the walls, a central bar serves up crafty cocktails, and tables are filled with chatter and Latin American dishes, some served tapas-style. Try the seafood croquetas, black cod tacos and beef short ribs bocado before finishing off with a creative take on crema catalana — made with bourbon ice cream. On weekends, expect to end the night dancing.

Ladies Night at Zengo

For a fun evening with your girlfriends, head to trendy Zengo, a Pan-Asian restaurant and bar, for Ladies’ Night on Tuesdays. Ladies get three complimentary drinks and a 50 percent discount on the food menu.

Kick back with cocktails at this chic bar in Le Royal Méridien Beach Resort & Spa, enjoy a sumptuous meal in the elegant dining area, and take in the remarkable views from the rooftop terrace.

Get your fill of sushi with an extensive menu of sushi rolls, sushi nigiri and sashimi. The menu also features tempura, dim sum, fiery curries, and grilled meats and fish. Be sure to save room for the Asian-inspired desserts.

Sport Nights at Barasti Beach Bar

Wildly popular with sports lovers in Dubai, the laid-back but always lively Barasti Beach Bar is the top spot in the city to watch live sports over beers and pub grub.

While sun-chasers hang out by the pool and private beach and those looking for a bit of conversation head to the rooftop garden, sports fans gather outdoors at this spot on the middle deck of Le Méridien Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina to watch sports on Dubai’s biggest live-sports LED screen.

The food is great, too — from salads and grilled food to tacos, craft burgers, pizzas and butter chicken, there’s something for everyone.

Date Night at Observatory Bar & Grill

Impressive panoramic views of skyscraper-studded Dubai Marina make the Observatory Bar & Grill, located on the 52nd floor of the Dubai Marriott Harbour Hotel & Suites, a worthy date-night spot.

A slick bar and candlelit tables set up alongside floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the Arabian Gulf create the perfect ambience for celebrating a special occasion.

A firm favorite with the city’s meat-lovers, the restaurant serves up some of the best wood-smoked steaks in Dubai. Choose from mains such as char-grilled lamb loin, wagyu cuts and miso-marinated organic pork bell.
