Arrive Hungry and Eat Up at Punta de Mita’s 6 Best Restaurants

Punta de Mita has a number of excellent restaurants, from casual spots where you can munch on fish tacos while your toes settle into the sand, to haute cuisine. Our six favorites will make choosing a bit easier, so you can relax and enjoy all the foodie delights in the area.

Spice Market

Spice Market at the W, like the rest of the hotel, has an impressive contemporary design. The floors reflect the ceiling and the soft lighting conveys a sophisticated and elegant feeling at this beachy version of this well-known restaurant.

On weekends, a DJ plays Deep House and lounge music, so you can enjoy a fresh Pad Thai, vegetable samosas, or a light curry along with the vibrant sounds.

Carolina

Awarded with AAA’s five-diamond designation, Carolina is an upscale restaurant with an interesting and creative menu.

The most surprising option on the tasting menu is beets that have been nixtamalized with the sand from the beach in front of the St. Regis, and served with a dollop of sea foam. (Don’t worry: scientists verified that the sand and water are sufficiently clean to consume!)

The restaurant is elegant and light-filled, with seats upholstered with old mariachi suits. Sunset views impress.

Tuna Blanca

Chef Thierry Blouet is very well-known for his Puerto Vallarta restaurant, Café Des Artistes. When he opened Tuna Blanca in Punta de Mita, he brought some of the most popular dishes from his first restaurant, and added some new ones as well.

The cream of langoustine is a favorite and is very refreshing, and you can’t miss the plantain strudel. Come here with a big group and you might just be lucky enough to have your desserts served on a huge surfboard!

Sufi

Sufi, located in the Sufi Ocean Club, has excellent ocean views, and you can see boats coming and going from the pier. The food is Mediterranean, and it’s fresh, high quality.

Options include watermelon salad, seafood paella, and filet Mignon. The food and views make the perfect combination for a romantic night out.

Mita Mary

Head to Mita Mary for the freshest seafood around. Belly up to the boat-shaped bar for a Mita Mary (the restaurant’s own Bloody Mary). All the fish and meats are cooked on a grill.

Try the lobster or shrimp and tacos with chipotle and red cabbage, or the fresh tuna tostadas, accompanied by a craft cocktail or a really cold beer.

Mita Mary also offers the option of you cooking your own catch. Just bring it directly from the sea and they’ll prepare a delicious dish for you.

Chevicheria

The W’s version of a food truck is a handsome turquoise Chevy that’s beached in the sand and has been turned into a ceviche restaurant. Enjoy a number of different kinds of ceviche along with craft beer, all accompanied by ocean views, and surf and sand.
