‘Tis the season for getting snuggly around a fire pit or fireplace. And you’ll find the tinder to your flame at hotels where sparks are built into the story — whether you prefer a fireplace inside the comfort of your private suite or gravitate more toward a fire pit on an outdoor terrace with incredible views.

Wend your way around the globe to these 10 cozy spots — from the Western Ghats range in India or downtown Denver to Vienna, California’s spectacular Central Coast, and beyond.

As always check for travel guidelines and closures before planning your trip.

The Ritz-Carlton, Rancho Mirage; California

Pink, lilac and orange sherbet hues light up the skies over Rancho Mirage and Coachella Valley in the waxing and waning hours of the day.

And the best perch for admiring them is a comfortable chair overlooking a fire pit and the valley beyond on the terrace of The Ritz-Carlton, Rancho Mirage, secreted away in the desert less than 10 miles from Palm Springs.

Several of the guest rooms and suites have outdoor living spaces with fire pits to cozy up around, too, for even more intimate fireside moments.

At the southeastern end of Denver’s popular 16th Street Mall and fresh from an $80 million transformation, the Sheraton Downtown Denver Hotel gets you in an après-ski frame of mind, whether you’ve spent the day schussing down the nearby Rocky Mountain slopes or not.

Before retreating to your room at night, kick back alongside the sleek, linear gas fireplace casting a low glow on the hotel’s lobby with a craft cocktail or local beer in hand.

Original adobe walls and traditional wood-slat ceilings pair with wood or gas-burning fireplaces in the rooms of La Posada de Santa Fe, a Tribute Portfolio Resort & Spa for maximum hygge vibes. Beautiful casitas spread across the grounds of this private estate located right in the middle of old town Santa Fe, just two blocks from the city’s main plaza, which happens to be a National Historic Landmark.

The mountains and surf-rich Pacific coastline of California’s Central Coast surround you at The Ritz-Carlton Bacara, Santa Barbara.

But come nightfall, the best place to be is lounging on your suite’s private terrace overlooking the Pacific Ocean and Channel Islands with the warmth of a blazing fireplace or fire pit to make the scene even more spectacular (not to mention snuggly).

Pictured here, the two-story Channel Island Suite, with two master bedrooms, though the hotel offers Fireside Garden Rooms, too, that open onto their own private patios with blazing fire pits at the ready.

Sky Rock Sedona; Arizona

With rooftop views like the ones that await at the Sky Rock Sedona, a crackling fire pit is really the only accessory necessary to complete the kick-back-and-soak-it-all-in vibes.

Sedona’s red rocks make for a seductive backdrop, with hues that get painted in a crimson glow as the sun sinks deeper into the day. A front-row view of it all from the hotel’s terrace is “Sedona goals.”

Stylish fireside vibes await in one of Atlanta’s favorite neighborhoods for lifestyle lounging at the AC Hotel Atlanta Buckhead at Phipps Plaza. After taking in all the retail therapy at nearby Lenox Square, retreat to the hotel for signature cocktails and tapas from the AC Lounge or a fireside seat off the lobby, curled up with a great book (or, let’s face it, your phone).

Warm wood paneling, chandeliers and candelabra-style wall lighting ooze old-world romance at Hotel Bristol, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Vienna, an art deco jewel adjacent to the Vienna State Opera.

A city fixture for more than 130 years, the hotel beckons guests and visitors in to sit, chat or relax with a drink or meal around the roaring fireplace in the evocative Bristol Lounge. The setting is perfect for a pre- or post-opera coffee, cocktail or prandial.

W Aspen; Colorado

In a town that can take itself a little too seriously sometimes, the W Aspen brings the playful and fun vibes to the base of Colorado’s most storied slopes. The accommodations tie in Ute patterns from the Native American tribe with pops of color and furnishings that conjure ’70s-era decadence.

The Extreme Wow Suite brings the epitome of alpine glamour with a round central fireplace throwing the glow around 360 degrees, a DJ booth and a hot tub that’s open to it all and ready for a party.

The New York EDITION; New York City

Ian Schrager’s essential simplicity always manages to feel as warm as it is sleek.

And that’s all the more evident when you’re sitting by The New York EDITION’s hand-forged fireplace as its flames cast dancing shadows around the hotel lobby’s signature spiraling staircase. If there’s a sexier meeting place in the city, we’d like to see it.

Mahabaleshwar, a hill station town in India’s Western Ghats range, a five-hour drive south of the throbbing metropolis of Mumbai, is just the place to breathe in some fresh air, relax and recalibrate on the subcontinent.

And at the Le Méridien Mahabaleshwar Resort & Spa, set on 27 acres of evergreen forest, nature-induced wellness awaits.

After a day exploring nearby temples, markets and waterfalls, settle around a huge stone fireplace on the hotel’s sprawling main patio and watch the skies overhead prickle to life with starlight.
