Romantic Getaways

From Seductive Solitude to Cozy Comforts, These Vacation Homes Rock Romantic Vibes

Romantic getaways are all about you-and-me time. A private vacation rental allows you to escape from the crowds and wake up and cook (or hire a chef to do the hard work) on your own schedule, wander the grounds at any time of day, and take a dip at your leisure.

These stylish homes offer solitude, comfort and views that will make you fall in love all over again — with the setting and with your partner.

As always check for travel restrictions and closures before planning your trip.

Unwind on the Shores of Lake Tahoe

There’s nothing more romantic than cuddling up under a blanket while taking in sunset views as purple and red hues are reflected over a lake. But that’s not the only perk that comes with this six-bedroom lakeside abode. (Admittedly, you’ll probably want to share this beautiful spot with your couple friends.)

Besides the private beach, swim area and provided Jet Skis, you can enjoy two fireplaces (and an outdoor fire pit), a pool table, an indoor hot tub and, when you’re feeling adventurous, close proximity to incredible hiking, skiing, fishing and more.

Lounge in a Private Pool in Croatia

Beachfront views, a private infinity pool and floor-to-ceiling bedroom windows await at this Adriatic getaway on Korcula, one of Croatia’s most secluded islands. A concierge is available to book a spa treatment or a chef to add to the special getaway vibe, and the city center is only about 3.5 miles (6 kilometers) away if you choose to explore.

But you can also keep to yourselves with a fully equipped modern kitchen and gym. The villa’s three bedrooms — all with en suite bathrooms — mean there’s enough room to bring your children, but you also won’t feel overwhelmed if you opt to keep the place to yourself.

Either way, you’ll want to end each day on the expansive terrace taking in the jaw-dropping panorama with a glass of rakija (fruit brandy) in hand.

Make Yourself at Home in Sonoma Wine Country

Ever wondered what it would be like to live in wine country? Imagine no more. This three-bedroom home, situated on four acres in one Sonoma’s most beautiful neighborhoods, can be yours for a few days (or longer).

You’re certain to feel like royalty under the custom-designed house‘s 14-foot wood ceilings or while wading in the solar-power-heated pool’s built-in spa. After a feast at the oak-shaded outdoor dining table — a built-in Sonos music system setting the soundtrack — fall into the comforts of the primary suite with its canopy bed and outdoor rain shower.

Retreat to a Private Countryside Villa in Italy

Privacy is the theme here: An unpaved roads leads to this tranquil, restored, four-bedroom countryside house outside of Castiglione di Sicilia in southern Italy. Situated on a hill — and along a wine route — it’s surrounded by views of the Alcantara Valley, Mount Etna and Nebrodi Park.

Though charming villages are just a short drive away, the Etna Retreat is imbued with a sense of romantic solitude, whether you’re eating at the garden dining table, lazing in bed with the terrace doors open, exploring the on-site solarium or floating in the saltwater infinity pool.

Couples traveling with a group can retreat to the loft space, which has a private, tucked-away bedroom.
